BP Chemicals of America, now located in Charlotte, North Carolina, was starting a new company, BP America PlasTec, and needed to lease a building that offered flexibility in space design and the capability for future expansions. The development time frame was short and while the new building was being completed, BP America PlasTec also needed a temporary space to start up operations. KIRCO had recently completed a building in Westlake Corporate Campus for another start up company with the same corporate parent; Arjobex. BP’s corporate office was pleased with the outcome and came to KIRCO for ideas.
KIRCO immediately went to work to find temporary space for BP America PlasTec and assembled a design team. KIRCO then formed an ownership group for the project with a national investment company.
Additionally, the BP start-up team was German and all drawings and costs required German equivalents. The BP team approved site drawings, preliminary budgets and schedules; and then work began.
The KIRCO MANIX team began construction in Westlake Corporate Campus adjacent to Arjobex and completed the project on time and within budget.
